実家のプリンタの前に腰掛けたら、
ズボンとシャツに何やらエイリアンの唾液的な
ベタベタした物体がくっついて困った。
どうもゴキブリホイホイ的な粘着物質らしい。
べっとり。

石けんで洗ってみたけど落ちず、
仕方なくシャツとズボンは捨てることにした。

が、困ったことに実家には着替えがない。
まじかよーと思いつつ、親父の服を着てユニクロへ。
2900円のシャツをゲット。
ズボンも・・・と思ったけど、
裾上げの時間がかかることを考えて、買うのはやめた。
ズボンはボーイスカウトの制服で代用することにした。

そうこうして準備していたら、家を出るのが
ゼミが始まる時間になってしまったのだった。
１時間半遅刻。

Libetの実験のfMRI版という内容の論文を紹介。

意志決定の７秒程度前の脳活動パターンと
意志決定の内容（右か左か）が相関するというもので、
部位は前頭極(BA10, frontalpolar)とprecuneusから後部帯状回。

結局、この路線で行っても
Libetの実験以上のインパクトを与えることはきっとできない。

(very short introduction シリーズ)

茂木さんはこの本について紹介。

普通、自由意志と決定論というのは両立しないものだと思われている。
（incompatible）
ところが、哲学ではそれらは両立するものだという議論がされている。
それがcompatibilism。
にわかには信じがたいが、哲学ではそれがきちんと議論されているらしい。
この本の３章の冒頭にはこう書いてある。

「Compatibilism is not something naturally believed,
but something that has to be taught - by professional philosophers,
in philosophy books, and through philosophy courses.」

実は、incompatibleの立場をとると、
決定論を否定しても自由意志はなくなってしまう。
決定論を否定すると、物事の振る舞いはランダムなものになる。
ランダムに決まった動きを意志だというだろうか？

ずっと逃げ腰だったけれど、
自発性・自由意志の問題に真剣に取り組むことにした。
この博士最初の１年、いやこの半年が正念場なのだと思う。

たくさんの疑義

1. SMAはmotor planningの後の方の情報を提供しているだけ
   不明なこと：
   SMAが本当に運動の決定を生成する部位であるか
   無意識的に決定を準備する際に高次の計画段階が含まれるか
   it is unclear
   whether the SMA is indeed the cortical site where the decision for a movement originates
   or
   whether high-level planning stages might be involved in unconsciously preparing the decision,
   as was seen in studies on conscious action plannning.
   
2. 準備電位はたかだか数百秒意図に先行するだけであり、測定の不正確さから生じているだけかもしれない
   potential inaccuracies in the behavioral measurement ... could lead one to misjudge the relative timing of the decision time ... .
3. 先行する脳活動は準備的活動ならなんでも現れるのではないか
   any leading activity merely reflects unspwcific preparatory activation
